Dear Harwich Sailing Booster,

We are sending this letter for the Harwich Sailing Team and we will be very up front. The sailing team is trying to raise money to outfit the team with a full complement of drysuits , new life jackets and new racing sails to replace the sails on our 8 boats. The sails we are using are on their last legs. The drysuits make spring sailing safe and are important as a defense against hypothermia and our priority.

We had an outstanding season last year with 12 students sailing in 11 races over the course of the season from the end of March until June. We are proud to tell you our record was outstanding also and we came in fifth at the Mass State Championships at MIT! This year we have 16 races on the schedule and 14 sailors.

The sailing team receives a stipend of $1000 from school budget which allows us to use the 420 racing dinghies from the Chatham Yacht Club on Pleasant Bay, insurance and a few incidentals. Cape Water Sports of Harwich Port has very nicely agreed to sell the needed drysuits to the team at their dealer price and thereby pass the savings on to us.

We need to raise at least $6000 to really make the whole thing work. We are asking that you consider seriously donating to help us make this goal. Our numbers are growing as the idea of Harwich High School having a competitive sailing team has caught on. We think this co-ed team is a natural for Harwich.

Please help us by making a check payable to Harwich Sailing Team Fund for what ever you feel appropriate. Send to:
